Vannevar Bush first coined the term Memex in his 1945 essay As We May Think, saying that, "A record if it is to be useful to science, must be continuously extended, it must be stored, and above all it must be consulted." The Memex is intended to put "millions of fine thoughts" at a person's fingertips.
